Would restoring it to stock iOS 5.1 be OK? You can do that.

You can't. Period.

Edit: to clarify, Apple has stepped up their game when it comes to restoring since 5.0. You now need what is called an APTicket as well as the SHSH's to restore to a firmware no longer being signed. The absence of a bootrom exploit in the a5/x devices prevents the APTicket to be usable. There is no way to successfully downgrade a5/x devices to an unsigned 5.x iOS

No, you won't be able to jailbreak on 5.1. Maybe someday, but not now unfortunately.

Why do you want to restore your device? Is something wrong with your current jailbreak? We may be able to help solve the problem.

I was trying to Get to work a jailbroken app called SMS gv extension, used to route my google voice texts through the native iMessage app on my iPad. I installed the application and tried to change a .plist file inside springboard.app. I modified the .plist file (to allow me to send messages to non iMessage numbers) restarted the device and it never came back up. All I see is black screen with the activity circle.

You could try using iExplorer and pulling off that file, editing it back, and replacing it again.

Or possibly just delete the tweak in general.

ok i was trying to do the same thing.. guess there is no way to fix a screwed up phone? If I have a jailbroken 5.0.1 and I dont mind moving up to stock 5.1 is there any special steps I need to take? Even trying to go to 5.1 I do not seem to be able to do it.

The problem I have is I can see preview of pics in messages app but when I click it I dont see the pic.. its just a black blank screen I can save it, it will appear in camera roll but whenever I cliick a pic it doesnt show me a full view of it. please help if u can thanks
