Try settings>general>reset>reset all settings. You don't lose any data, photos, contacts or anything. Just need to put the wifi password in again. Afterwards make sure you don't enable apple's diagnostics.

What does resetting settings do anything about battery? I'm using 5.0.1 right now, and I'm planning to "restore" to 5.1 without backup.

because it's very likely you are carrying over battery hogging settings over from however long you have been using an iPhone, possibly since iOS 3 or prior..

0	Still good battery life here, on par with iOS 5.0.1 while 5.0.1 and 5.1 are a tiny bit better than 5.0. Never had any drain issue still. link answered 27 Mar '12, 01:38 gamerX1990 36●5●6
