Help with jailbreaking and Cydia for iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches.

iOS 8.3, 8.2, and iOS 8.1.3 are not jailbreakable. There is no way to downgrade from iOS 8.3, 8.2, or 8.1.3 to earlier versions.

bionic clowns

Before Jailbreaking with redsn0w click extras and select the ipsw (there is an option). That should fix the unexpected error.

That worked. Got further into the process until "USB communication problem" while holding down the home button for 3 seconds screen.

So did you manage to fully jailbreak?

No, couldn't get past the USB communication problem. I'm thinking my 3gs might be too 'new'. Might try a tethered jailbreak. See how that goes.

when you select the ipsw redsn0w pops up a "YES/NO" question (new/old bootrom). Are you answering yes, or no, and what is the first five of the 3gs serial?

Tried both yes and no, same result. First five numbers, 85031.
