If your proxy is setup correctly, cydia should work just fine if all other iPhone apps work. Cydia leverages the same web API that they do.

Your cydia may have not installed correctly then. Rejailbreak and try to install again.

I have successfully jailbreaked my idevices using Greenpois0n RC5 b4. If you're using windows, make sure that you've disabled your firewall and anti-virus (temporarily), closed iTunes, ran GP as an administrator, connected your idevice, and powered it down before clicking on jailbreak. Follow the onscreen instructions to the letter, here, timing is EVERYTHING. If it says "Jailbreak failed" or something to that effect, exit and start GP again, wait for your device to boot up then power it down and try again. No need to restore.

After you have jailbreaked with GP and Cydia is having a tough time being downloaded and you end up with an error message telling you that you're running out of space, relax, just open "loader" and try installing Cydia again. I think this is because Cydia's servers are receiving too much download requests, just keep on trying. Alternatively, you can also install Cydia using RedSn0w. Just check the appropriate tick boxes and follow the instructions.

Cheers! :-)

I tried everything...rejailbreaking and reinstalling cydia.. nothing seems to work...when I start cydia it says updating database and then gives an error 407...which i found out was for proxy authentication...but with the same proxy authentication safari, you tube and app store works...so not able to solve the problem at all....even after loads of effort for jailbreaking, everything seems to be useless if cydia does not work...
