Help with jailbreaking and Cydia for iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches.

How to jailbreak iOS 6.0-6.1.2 untethered on all iOS devices (and 6.1.3 tethered on older iOS devices).
Apple has released iOS 6.1.3 and 6.1.4; do not upgrade/restore (if you want to keep your jailbreak). You cannot downgrade/upgrade/restore to 6.1.2 using SHSH blobs on newer devices; older devices that can use SHSH blobs are iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod touch 4th gen. Learn more.

Almost all the Appstore apps crash upon startup after installing Spire (the Siri hack).

I'm running on 5.0.1 on iPhone 4 GSM jailbroken using latest redsn0w, and Corona 1.0-3. It's a fresh install too.

I tested specifically before installing Spire, and all of them worked, but just as I assumed, after Spire almost none of them work.

Try installing a new app from the AppStore.

Please find a crash log of one in settings>general>diagnostics and usage, copy and paste it into pastebin and post a link here.

Try doing a tethered boot and try the apps, bet it works! Spire and the new untether don't play nice with other apps

It works dude. Your solution is correct, but somehow Gevey doesn't work under this method. I tried a few times.

Maybe I need to try a bit more.

I'm just stuck now with the tomtom app, it doesn't play properly with spire installed tethered or untethered

That's sad. I really hope chpwn looks into this.

Maybe I was too excited when I left the comment that it works. It's a mixed result. Few apps work and few don't. So the issue still persists.

Are you guys sure that doing a tethered boot improves the result, or does it also improve when you do a normal reboot?

(30 Dec '11, 08:58) britta ♦♦ britta's gravatar image

Yes it's tethered boot, if I reboot back untethered I'm back to square one

See this thread also about Spire and app crashes - it seems like the package Copic might be causing some of the problems.

IF none of these solutions work for you. Check if you have Anyring installed it will conflict with Spire. Remove Anyring and your apps should work fine with Spire again. :)
