when I use jailbreak and install on redsn0w I get prompted to direct manually IPSW. I built custom firmware on a stock 5.0.1 and used that via shift+restore, now as I get prompted to manually select IPSW I only have iphone2,1_5.0.1_9A405 or NO_BB_OLDROM_iphone2,1_5.0.1_9A405 to choose. Why is mine 9A405? Why is prompt asking for 9A404? |

You need to select the original (not custom with baseband removed) IPSW file in redsn0w before you jailbreak. Problem: you want to preserve your baseband while upgrading to iOS 5.0.1 9A405, so you create a custom IPSW in redsn0w, install it on your iPhone using iTunes, but then redsn0w won't jailbreak it because it's looking for 9A404 (a developer beta of iOS 5.0). Solution: this may seem counterintuitive and risky, but it works fine. When you've finished installing the custom IPSW on your iPhone using iTunes and are ready to jailbreak, go to Extras in redsn0w, then Select IPSW, then select the original (not custom with baseband removed) iOS 5.0.1 9A405 IPSW file. You can then jailbreak from the redsn0w main menu and it will not upgrade your baseband. |

On another forum I found an answer that worked for me. I saved another copy of 9A405, renamed it 9A404. Restarted Redsn0w, manually pointed the browser to the renamed file. Redsnow work just fine, along with the changing of the baseband to the Ipad modem for unlocking. |
Prompt states 'The required IPSW is either not public or not available right now. Please provide it manually using "Extras->Select IPSW"'?
