Help with jailbreaking and Cydia for iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches.

Question

Hey Guys. I jailbroke my iPhone 4 a few hours ago (untethered). The problem is regarding trying to restore all my contacts, pictures and other data. The restore button on iTunes is grayed out. So it is totally unclickabe. I've tried absolutely everything.

I've tried the following:

Updated iTunes
Set phone up as new phone
Set phone up from back up
Plugged the device into a different PC, restore button is still grayed out.
Plugged a different iPhone into the same PC's , restore button is then clickable.
Googling for hours

Seems like a problem with the jailbreak or the phone itself. A few others from another forum I also having the same issue.

Well, I managed to figure it out myself.

I was relying on the gevey unlock so I had a different carriers sim inserted. Instead, I deactivated the phone and inserted the phone carriers sim and activated it. Boom! Restore button has restored.

Hi Sheen

Im also facing the same problem here... I can't restore from my backup. What does it mean "deactivate the phone and insert SIM"? U mean deactivate option while jailreaking process or something else... Please help me out!!!

Turn off the iPhone by holding the button on the top until you see SLIDE TO POWER OFF on the screen, than turn it off, next connect the iPhone USB cable to your computer and open iTunes than hold the HOME BUTTON down and connect the cable to the iPhone without releasing the HOME BUTTON, once you see the iTunes icon go ahead and release it : ) That should do it!
