How to fix some mysterious problems.

Hello all, I have been get : " We apologize for the inconvenience, but springboard has just crashed. Mobile Substrate /did not/ cause this problem. It has protected you from it...." Then, I get how to solve this problem or how to fix. I tried restarting it, rebooting my phone but it just keeps on crashing. It crashes when I select message contact by going through contacts, when I try doing something else while talking on the phone or just randomly. Anyone know how to fix this error?

Understand what tweaks are

Tweaks are MobileSubstrate extensions. Think of it this way: For every action you do on your phone there's something called a METHOD, which is being called. For instance, the method -[SBApplicationIcon launch] is called every time an app is launched.

A tweak gets into runtime code execution, and changes the code inside these methods, customizing the way actions are handled on iOS.

A respring is needed to restart MobileSubstrate, else new extensions won't be loaded. That's the reason Cydia restarts your SpringBoard everytime a new tweak is installed.

Why Safe Mode?

Safe Mode is a part of MobileSubstrate which protects your phone from bad extensions. Think of it this way: A tweak decides to call a method -[MyClass methodAvailableOniOS4], which is not available on iOS 5. If the user has iOS 5, SpringBoard will crash, and will never allow any user interaction if that non-existant method call happens when SpringBoard is started.

Safe Mode disables all extensions when a problem like that is detected, which saves you the trouble of removing an extension manually via SSH or even from restoring.

That means, if you're getting to Safe Mode when you browse contacts, an extension which messes with contacts is probably doing something it shouldn't (like calling a non-available method), which causes SpringBoard to crash.

InstARRous apps are apps. Not Cydia stuff

When you install an app from there, you manage it from InstARRous itself. Cydia does not interfere with that in any way. And these apps are like normal apps. They can't be causing issues by themselves.

Please don't be a pirate.

If you're an InstARRous user you shouldn't be seeking support here, as we're completely against piracy.
