How to fix some mysterious problems.

Hallo there,

my problem is that my iPhone 3GS new bootrom (currently on 4.0.1 and jailbroken with gets stuck when I restore it to a custom firmware created wih PwnageTool in order to preserve the 05.13.04 baseband (i need to unlock it).

So I've followed the Redmond Pie guide to the letter and after restoring to the custom firmware with iTunes, the iPhone gets stuck at the Apple logo during its first boot.

Any idea of why this is happening? Any alternative to get 4.2.1 jb and preserve the baseband.

Thank you very much.

Ah, I see that it's Nadeem's bundle. There was a problem in it, which got fixed a few minutes ago. The new bundle should avoid this problem. Link to new bundle:

Thank you for the link.

Now it does finish correctly the restore to the custom 4.2.1, with the baseband preserved, but Cydia crashes everytime I try to open it.

I've tried to run GP over it but the infamous 60000 ms error appears.

Gonna try to restore again to the cooked FW and see what happens...

OK, fixed. It was my fault as when cooking the Custom Firmware I also marked the Cydia Installer option under the Cydia Packages option. This option don't have to be marked or otherwise Cydia will crash.

I had the exact same problem - stuck on the Apple log. The updated bundle fixed the problem. Thank you very much. has instructions that states the installation of Cydia should be selected. Thank you a second time for pointing out that error. Hopefully they'll update their instructions.

Solved. With the new custom bundles if works perfectly. Just be aware that the option Cydia Installer under Cydia Packages must remain unchecked when cooking your CF.
