How to fix some mysterious problems.

Hello everyone! I'm newbie and this whole jailbreak/unlock/upgrade is getting pretty confusing for someone like me - a complete rookie. Here's my question: - I have JB and unlocked 3gs on iOS 4.1 and BB 6.15. Is it possible to upgrade it and if it is - how? I don't have SHSH blobs from previous unlocked firmware because the phone was in this state when it came to me. Basically, no special complains about it except short battery life (less than a day with all those fancy services and networks switched off). I know this issue might be caused by upgrading to 6.15 and I have tried to fix it with Push Doctor but no result (some weird errors occurred in Push Test...) and with several other methods with same result - no result at all! I know some newer versions could fix battery drain issue but not sure which one is right for my model and its state. I haven't tried SAM method because it was too confusing for me to figure out what I am allowed to deactivate, what will happen to my unlock, etc. I would appreciate all kind of help, suggestions, tutorials or anything what could help me clear this mess and to pick right direction to fix that battery issue. Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge on this matter!

you can only go to 4.3.5 without SHSH's. but 4.3.5 has no untethered jailbreak

if your iPhone is old bootrom 3GS, then you can jailbreak untethered on 4.3.5 using redsn0w 0.9.8b7c

You can use iDetector to know whether your iPhone 3GS is old bootrom or new. Click Here to Download iDetector

And SAM won't hurt your unlock, use it.

Thank you for your answer! One big part of this mess has been solved! It's an old bootrom... Anyway, SAM method is not quite clear to me in the part where I should "Launch Redsn0w 09.6b6 and browse original Apple firmware you've downloaded to your desktop". Well, I have "iPhone2,1_4.1_8B117_Custom_Restore.ipsw" for my BB 6.15. as well as the original version I have used for making custom-restore.ipsw. Which one should I use? Or should I download something else? And what will happen with unlock? Man, there's just too many variables, I can't follow that anymore!!! Thank you once again and have a nice day!
