Help with jailbreaking and Cydia for iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches.

Question

I have jailbroken my iPod touch. Whenever I try to launch Cydia on my iTouch, it always get stuck on the 'Preparing Filesystem' screen. What should I do? I'm new to jailbreaking.

reboot the ipod and try again, make sure you are on wifi

what generation ipod is it and what did you use to jailbreak it?

does it just sit on that screen saying that? And you are sure you have a good connection to the internet? Hmmm what version of redsn0w did you use, and what firmware are you on

Uhmmm, it actually shows that its loading. But its taking forever. Im using Redsn0w 0.9.6rc14 with the 4.3.2 firmware. I did the jailbreak correctly so I dont know what the problem is.

if you hit the home button to shut it down and press it again it just does the same thing? Is this the first time loading it up? or did you just install something from cydia and now it is doing this ?hmm, do you have your shsh saved for 4.3.3? Have you restored your ipod in itunes before or is this the same firmware you had when you bought it from the store?

Yes, it still gives me that screen. Yes, its my first time loading it up since I jailbreaked. I have not been able to get into Cydia. I've been following the tutorial by TysiPhoneHelp on youtube. And im sorry what is the shsh? And I have not restored. It is the same firmware from when I got it. (Forgive me if i'm doing mistakes with this jailbreak, I never jailbroke before :/ )

no problems i am just trying to weigh our options here, either the cydia server is experiencing problems or your install didn't go so well.....you should be using redsnow rc18 for one thing. Problem here is that you may need to restore to get this working, and since you go not have any shsh saved you can only restore back up to 4.3.5 which is NOT jailbreak friendly...give me a minute

thought of that, but he is on factory firmware, which was confirmed today to be the source of the DFU loops everyone was getting....

i would still save the blobs with ifaith. not restore yet though.

Well i think you have two options.... you can wait, leave it the way it is for now, there may be a fix coming for iFaith, which will allow you to restore to 4.3.2 very easily and then you could just re-jailbreak, who knows when it is coming though. Second thing you can try is to re-jailbreak right now with redsn0w rc18 and see if it re-installs cydia properly, problem with this is it is a "risk taker" move if it works great if it doesnt you will probably be stuck in restore mode and have to restore to 4.3.5, which right now only offers a buggy tethered jailbreak.....the choice is yours sir!
