Help with jailbreaking and Cydia for iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches.

evasi0n7 can jailbreak iOS 7.0-7.0.6 untethered. p0sixspwn can jailbreak iOS 6.1.3-6.1.5 untethered (see here for 6.1.6).
How to jailbreak iOS 7.0-7.0.6 (and fix problems). iOS 7.1.x is not jailbreakable, except an unsupported tethered iPhone 4 jailbreak.
Restoring or updating will update your device to iOS 7.1.1 and remove your jailbreak. There is no way to downgrade from iOS 7.1.x to 7.0.x.

How can I jailbreak my ipod touch 2G (MC) by using Jailbreakme? (or other tools that do not need a factory reset) USING 4.2.1 Firmware~ It seems that before the launch of Jailbreakme 3.0, Jailbreakme 2.0 supported my device, but I used my ipod touch today and it showed that Jailbreakme do not support my device... So anybody can help?? www.jailbreakme.com/star, not support my firmware....

Well I guess OP needs to tell us the current firmware version, I would of expected that info in OP's question, but with hindsight I guess OP has visited current jailbreakme page.....still if not currently jailbroken then OP can just update to 4.2.1 and use Greenpois0n, all data/media will stay intact.

well~~ Greenpois0n rc6.1 dont need to restore the device before JB? Will it be not so stable if doing so?

You don't need to restore, but greenpoison is buggy, sometimes Cydia doesn't load properly. And you would need to restore to get it working properly. I would back up before doing it. That being said I've done around 15 phones with GP and only had one mess up. Make sure your computer has an active Internet connection when you are doing it.

If you're gonna bother with the restore first then you may as well use Sn0wbreeze 2.2.1 and get a sure installation of Cydia, I'd try GP as you are, if loader/Cydia cause issues then it's gonna have to be Sn0wbreeze.
