Yahoo Mail don't have a 'forgot your password option' ?

My guess is they've forgotten the answer to their "secret questions" or else no longer have access to a backup email account (has happened to me on occasion).

Ok, but bringing it here raises concerns about the scenario of trying to hack into someones email account by trying to retrieve their password from the keychain. I'm also debating what this has to do with JBQA, this question could close shortly.

I don't know how to prove someone that it's my account but, as i'm trying to explain, my parents from now have only their ipad 1 jailbreaked by myself and i was wonderin is someone coul help me in the community to retrieve from that ipad their own account/password because it's already saved inside the ipad, the itunes sync doesn't do anything because there is no sync from yahoo account on win7.....i'm not trying to break into someone's account guys...

From what I've read, the answer is not easily. Keychain access on iOS is basically sandboxed by specific app, so only the Mail app is able to access data in the Mail area of the keychain. Good discussion of this here.

Even on a jail broken device, the ability to open something in an app's keychain requires a key from the app itself.

In theory, an app could be written to retrieve the key from the Mail app, then use that to unlock the appropriate area of the keychain, with calls to SecItemCopyMatching to retrieve the password.

Edit: Ok, looks like the encrypted backup (when you have the password) can have the keychain retrieved and unlocked. See So yes, you can do it!

There is no way to verify the OP's information, this could be anyones email account you are helping to hack into, and quite frankly this isn't a site about cracking passwords on email accounts.

I'm asking if it's possible to do, i'm not asking anyone to do it for me, it's because i've jailbreakd my parents ipad, unfortunely they have a probleme with their yahoo account, can't retrieve the password into yahoo website (you guys know well how old people can forgot things in computers systems) i'm just trying to get help here because maybe with a jailbroken device it's much easy ??? I don't know anythyng about security on IOS and quite frankly i'm not interested, i just want to help them because they only have the Ipad to get their emails now, and it's not very comfortable to use with 3 separate persons dad and me :( :( :(

See it from another point of view, you could be trying to gain access to someones email account without their knowledge, why would this site want to be involved with that. To me it's no different then people asking how to bypass the password screen on their idevice because all of a sudden they have forgotten it or their dog/cat changed it.

I was considering that too... it's only because you still need the backup password that I posted the edit.

It's also important to remind people that their data and passwords is often not as secure as they may think...
