So this only happens when you search in Cydia, it loads ok when you first open it and when you go to 'changes' and hit 'refresh' does it load new packages?

Are you getting loading errors from certain repos'?

Yes it keeps loading new packages in changes.

what do you mean by repo's?

(01 May '11, 02:40) hamcal37 hamcal37's gravatar image

Well, have you added any repos' (repositories, package hosts), you'll know if you've done it or not, as it's something you manually do. If you have then there could be a server error on one of those repos.

I was gonna mention that earlier, but disregarded it because to get to 'changes', I took it Cydia had to first load it's home page.

I actually just tried that with both data and WiFi turned off, it still loads changes just fine.

(01 May '11, 03:16) JonSeals ♦ JonSeals's gravatar image

But what does it say when you hit refresh?

(01 May '11, 03:23) venusanann venusanann's gravatar image

Dpkg gives a bunch of errors and just uses the old package indexs.

(01 May '11, 03:27) JonSeals ♦ JonSeals's gravatar image

I just tried it myself and I get a pop up box 'Error: Refresh Host Unreachable' that's what I would expect with zero connectivity, not sure what/why you are getting what you get.

I get this: http://a.yfrog.com/img610/1341/ypwsy.jpg and this: http://a.yfrog.com/img640/5065/3egrb.jpg BTW regarding the certain source on there, I'm not a pirate, I just needed VLC.

(01 May '11, 03:35) JonSeals ♦ JonSeals's gravatar image

That's weird why you get a different thing from me, as for the source, not my business what you do on your own idevice, just can't troubleshoot that sort of thing here, which I know you don't anyway. Can't you VLC via your appstore, it's free.

Got pulled back in January.

(01 May '11, 03:50) JonSeals ♦ JonSeals's gravatar image

Crikey...never noticed it got pulled, glad I got it before they done that and glad they haven't used their killswitch thingy to forcibly remove it. Always puzzled me why they allowed it any way.

(01 May '11, 03:56) venusanann venusanann's gravatar image

They only use the killswitch when the app steals info and stuff. Otherwise Cydia would've been getting removed all the time.

the same VLC is up on Cydia (on the zodttd repo) too. no need to use bad/pirated repos.
