How to fix some mysterious problems.

Not a new issue for me: apps fail to stay alive in the background, memory constantly cleared, always having 400+ mb (i5), but no multitasking. No crashes per se, just very aggressive memory management.

It seems as if Whenever I update Substrate past 0.9.5 I start experiencing strange issues: memory is constantly cleared, no apps stay in the background, and 3rd-party apps (including Cydia) crash about 5 seconds after launch. Safe Mode and downgrading under 0.9.6 seems to fix the issue. Anyone had similar issues?

Update: the issue has now come back, with a downgraded Substrate package. It is, however, less severe: I can keep 1-2 apps in the background for some time with then not bein suspended.

Huh, turns out I asked the question previously in 2013 and 2015, without offering a possible cause. In 2013, Winterboard was offered as the culprit.

The issue now appears to have dissolved on its own. Not sure if it needs time to readjust substrate memory management after reinstalls I'd what, but multitasking is back to normal, with occasional purges after longer standbys. Weird. Merry Christmas, I guess

Forgetting about this bug, updates Substrate past 0.9.6, since the changelog had some bug fix for iOS 6. At least now I had some logs to dig through. syslog provides some info that I think might be related: -there is a failed pid_suspend when an app enters background, with unknown error -1; -"Idle-exit job was jettisoned. Will bypass throttle interval for next on-demand launch" "Exited:Killed: 9" seems to signal memory problems, however no leaks have been noticed, and due to constant killing of background prcs it doesnt go lower 200mb. -of course, kernel issues: vnode table full; -backgrounded apps mentioned, followed by "Exited:Killed: 9"

Running a vintage OS is certainly fun.

Since no one is using/debugging iOS 6 anymore, I'll just post it here as a forewarning to myself.
