How to fix some mysterious problems.

Restored my iPhone 4 from iOS 4.1 and now it's stuck in a reboot loop. If I put it into DFU mode with iTunes and click on restore, it never actually gives iTunes the chance to restore my phone. It is constantly rebooting itself. Please help anyone.

Windows User –

Quit itunes

Go to C:WindowsSystem32driversetc

Search for 'hosts' file?

Open 'hosts' with Notepad and DELETE the following line from the end of the text. or something similar to this.

Save and close the 'hosts'?

Mac OS X User -

• Open Finder

• Click on 'Go' from 'Menu Bar'

• Select 'Go to Folder'

• Type '/etc'

• Click 'Go'

• Open 'hosts' with TextEdit and delete the following line from the end of the text.

• 'Save As' it on desktop with same name and make sure to uncheck the box saying 'If no extension is provided, use .txt'

• Drag the 'hosts' file from desktop to 'etc' folder and replace it.

• 'Authenticate' it by entering your computer password.

Download iOS 4.2.1 firmware file for iPhone 4

Save or Move it on desktop

• Open iTunes?.

• Windows Users press ‘Shift’ Key / Mac OS X Users press ‘Option’ key and hit ‘Restore’

• Select the downloaded iOS 4.2.1 firmware file

Still didn't work for me, like I said before, the phone kept rebooting itself once the recovery process started.

Even when the device is put into DFU mode, it allows me to click on restore, but once iTunes starts to restore, it goes back to the reboot loop again.

The same thing happened to me, I solved it by restoring it by using another computer, try it to see if it works for you too.
