It appears that Cydia stopped automatically signing my blobs. Cydia lists all the blobs up to 4.2.b3. Today's 4.3.2 release caught me off guard so I frantically installed iSHSHit and luckily Apple was still signing 4.3.1, so i was able to get that. I am however missing 4.3 SHSH Blob, but that's really not a big deal. Anybody know if Cydia is no longer saving blobs? Will I have to run iSHSHit or Tinyubrella from now on?

TinyUmbrella is the safest method, just run it and tell it to save "everything" and see what you get.

The design is, once Cydia knows about your device it will automatically save blobs for you every time there's a new iOS release.

The reality is, it's possible for the queue to get so backed up that he doesn't successfuly get all users migrated to one release if the next one comes out too quickly. That could explain why 4.3 might have been missed.

uhh before apple stops signing... should i update to 4.3.1 then rejailbreak just to get the blobs or stay on 4.2.1

You don't have to update to get blobs. It has nothing to do with what iOS you're running, it's what Apple is signing. Run TinyUmbrella and hit "Save SHSH." It will get 4.3.1 blobs. Do it right now though, the window will be closing ASAP.

ahh thanks because cydia said that it only had the ones for 4.2.1 and the 4.3 betas

What you see on the Cydia homepage means nothing. The Cydia homepage also warns against upgrading to 4.0.2.

If TinyUmbrella has it, Cydia has it (unless you forced it to go directly to apple)

TU sends the shsh's to Cydia, regardless of settings. The "Set hosts to cydia on exit" setting applies to iTunes getting the signing from Apple vs Cydia, not the saving/sending of shsh's. "Request SHSH from Cydia" setting won't effect it either, as far as sending shsh's to Cydia.

If you have started the shsh saving process then you shouldn't need to worry, Cydia will autosave shsh's for every new firmware release, but if you have a requset pending message on your Cydia homepage then force the issue with TinyUmbrella

Unfortunately, I don't think this is true anymore. Something happened after 4.2.b3. Because I have all the blobs up until 4.2.b3 (Maybe the new cydia is having problems saving blobs? I dunno). I am missing 4.3. And I was lucky enough to get 4.3.1 just now. So Cydia definitely missed 4.3 and probably would have missed 4.3.1 had I not ran iSHSHit. If you haven't run Tiny Umbrella or iSHSHit on your iphone, you may wanna try it now to get your 4.3.1 blob. You'll also notice 4.3 blob is not available.

It is true, if anything went wrong then it would of been on Cydia end, so out of our hands. As it stands 4.3 shsh's have been made redundant by 4.3.1 jailbreak, I don't know why you use ishshit when we have Tinyumbrella

(14 Apr '11, 15:33) venusanann venusanann's gravatar image

The reason I ran iSHSHit was because I am at work. We use a very specific Java version my machine to work with some old legacy software. So I had to use iSHSHit from my iPhone itself. I will go home and run Tiny Umbrella when I can.

Ok, what's the deal with using those ishshit shsh's, once they're on your comp do they provide a tool to use them or do they piggy back off TU

(14 Apr '11, 15:54) venusanann venusanann's gravatar image

iSHSHit doesn't save the shsh's to your computer, it saves them on the device and optionally e-mails a copy. Once you get your shsh on your computer (either emailing to yourself, or getting it off the device via SSH or iFunbox), you'd need to put it in the TU save location and use TU to downgrade.

iSHSHit will actually pull the SHSH Blobs from either Cydia or Apple directly and save them on the iPHone. You can then email it to yourself and save it into your folder where you blobs are saved for TinyUmbrella and use it as normal. iSHSHit will also send the blobs to Cydia.

Bit of a cheek using TU don't you think lol
