How to fix some mysterious problems.

I was zipping folders together but after it was done compressing, the zip never existed. I know it's there because it took up storage space on my device. How would I fix this?

Sorry if I sound desperate but I'm losing around 10 GB of storage on my iPhone and would really like to know how to fix this.

See if there's anything in /var/mobile/library/ifile

There is a Trash folder (nothing in it), bookmarks.plist and shortcuts.plist .

The created zip file is in the same folder as the files you selected to be compressed. I tried it.

I did it with 5 or 6 folders and each were from 1-1.5 GB so it took a while. I left the screen unlocked but it never showed the zip folder.

Has to be somewhere, you'll have to hunt. Probably not a good idea to try to zip up 10GB on a phone. :D

I was lazy moving some videos so I just zipped all of them as one. Never doing that again. So I guess it's not normal to have 18.88 GB on Other shown on iTunes?

It wouldn't be normal for me, as that's more than my 5s's total capacity, but yeah the zip files would be counted as "other" in iTunes. Have you tried iCleaner?

What on earth were you zipping ?

There is two possibilities for this to be fixed. 1. Do a semi-restore to keep the jailbreak but erase all user created files, and if wanted restore from backup 2. Check the bytes of the folders within var/mobile (excluding containers) by tapping the "i" button and checking when the bytes reaches a billion bytes (a GB). Deleting what is not by apple but created by the user or removed tweaks, themes, etc
