How to fix some mysterious problems.

Ipad (3rd gen), iOS 7.1.2. Whenever I delete some iMessages they are gone but after I reboot the iPad they are back on. No tweaks/repos installed so far, I just jailbroke it but haven't bothered installing anything.

Have you opened cydia and let it initialize?

Yes I have.

lol that's odd. I don't have an answer for you, but do you have the same iMessage account on multiple devices? If so, delete a message on the iPad and see if it deletes it from the others.

Just thinking out loud, but iMessage on Apple's side might be screwed and instead of deleting messages off the server it just keeps resyncing.

Turns out i was wrong, it's not even jailbroken yet. Here's a video demonstration of what happens (yea, it also crashes now)

Jailbreak it, then delete:

/var/mobile/Library/SMS/sms.db, db-shm and db-wal

It sounds like the messages database is corrupt, that will force iOS to rebuild it. Note that you will lose all your past messages.

Could a semi-restore help too?

Not sure.

Well, whatever it was, it fixed itself. It was not even a reboot that fixed it, because we tried that several times.
