Help with jailbreaking and Cydia for iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches.

Question

I put a theme on my phone, it resprung, and the screen went black. I held the home button and Siri started talking. I can hear the sound of me pressing the passcode numbers. I know the phone is working but the screen is black. Please help me fix this.

The theme might not be compatible with your phone. Do a hard reboot by holding both the power/sleep/lock and home buttons - the screen will go black, release both buttons when the Apple logo appears and immediately hold volume up button until you see the lockscreen. This can take upwards to 3 minutes or more. Holding the volume up button while booting disables Cydia Substrate and all tweaks that depend on it. At this "no substrate" mode, springboard will appear stock and tweak options will not appear under the Settings app. You can launch Cydia and uninstall the theme that you suspect may have caused the problem. Reboot again without holding the volume up button to go back into normal jailbroken state.

I just uninstalled the theme and it is still black. Any other suggestions before I reset my iphone?

Hmm maybe try doing a hard reset again. So the screen is fine in safe mode but black In normal mode still?

how could you see to uninstall the theme if it were an all black screen?

When you put it in safe mode you can see the screen

And you only installed that theme and no other tweaks with it?

Yeah all I did was switch a theme

I guess you could try just uninstalling winterboard as it should remove everything to do with that theme. Hopefully that works. That's the only other thing I can really think of.

I just did that still doesn't work :(. Should I just reset my phone?

What do you mean by reset? Do you mean restore or what?

The only other thing you could do uninstall Cydia substrate which will remove all your tweaks and hope that one of them is causing a problem.

No problem glad it worked... Obviously some tweak was causing problems. When you add tweaks back just install a few at a time and if the black screen happenes again then it's easier to narrow down.
