@etypetech

You need to contact the previous owner and have him change the details in iCloud. You can give him an email address and a temporary password you would like to use or he gives you the current password.

Alternatively you will need to contact apple and Prove that you own the device and they will reset it for you.

APPLE WILL NOT RESET THE DEVICE IF NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER .........even if previous owner provided a receipt they won't do anything.

@vilo ... No . What you should do is contact person you bought it from and ask them to remove device from their Apple account then you can set it up as new with your own Apple id .....if the person can't help you they either found the device or stole it....in which cas it's locked forever and you have a very expensive paperwieght .

Send them this link ....

If it's the email app that you are referring to and not the email used to set up the entire device. Have the previous owner go to https://security.google.com/settings/security/apppasswords and revoke their access to the device. When you allow your iOS device to use the email app for reading Gmail emails and such you don't actually put in the Gmail password it generates a application specific password for that device.
