How to fix some mysterious problems.

I just jailbroke my iPad Air in 7.1.2. Before I made a pkgbackup to google drive. It completed so I went on and jailbroke feeling safe my files were there for later. After jailbreaking, pkgbackup tells me my backup doesn't exist. So I go to Drive and the files are indeed there. For some reason the app doesn't recognize the files. Has anyone had this issue before? Do I re-restore and re-jailbreak and try again. I'm guessing that's my best bet. But if I can save all the hassle, I am open to suggestions. Edit: I have already removed and reinstalled pkgbackup and all it's dependencies with the same result.

I have had similar issues with dropbox, and here is the workaround I use

Just to be safe, make a copy of your backup on google drive ( the one you want to use) and save it somewhere safe (download a copy to your pc). if the backup comprises of file and a folder, I would suggest adding the backup to a zip archive(to keep the backup complete). This is a precautionary measure only.

Make sure you change the "number of backups to keep" in the settings (within pkgbackup) dialog when you have ticked google drive to more than 0 (you need to scroll down to the bottom of the list under address book.

Create a new backup from your device to "Connect To GDrive"

To minimise the size of this new backup I normally go to the ios device's settings page, then pkgbackup and within "at startup" select only the "Scan cydia packages" and leave the rest blank.

Now go back to pkgbackup and create your new backup.

Once complete, place your original backup (file or file and folder) in the folder where your backups are saved and delete the newly created backup.

Now restart pkgbackup and hopefully your original backup should be there for you to use.

I followed every step and when I re-open pkgbackup it loads the backup I just made. The one with only Cydia packages.

Did you delete the new backup you created?

Are you sure you deleted the newly created backup? It does not make sense that it is loading a file you deleted?

Backups should look like this: 2014-07-04_10~27~26.pkgbkup

Can you see more than 1 backup in your GDrive? E.g. Your original backup and the newly created one?

I had two folders. One with yesterday's date (the important one) and one with today's (the new one I don't care about). I deleted today's. The .pkgbackup has today's date.

If you backed up only "scan cydia packages" today, there should not have been a folder, just a file such as:

Your original backup should have a file and folder with coreesponding names!

Is this the case?

The original backup is just a folder. No file. The new backup is a file, no folder. I'm guessing PKGB overwrote the file

Normally not!, however it could lie with the number of backup you had previously set in the settings of pkgbackup. By default it is 0.

I am not familliar with GDrive however it may be the case that you can roll back deleted items. In gmail if you delete your contacts you can normally roll back your contacts thus restoring them.

Perhaps this may be the case in GDrive.

I guess it may be a case of reinstalling everything, however you can speed things up by installing multiple items at a time.

To do this select the tweak, theme that you want to install and after you select install click on the "continue queuing" at the top under confirm. Now select the 2nd tweak, theme etc etc and do this for multiple items. I normally do 4 or 5, so that should a problem arise, I know it has something to do with the recently installed items.
