4.1 window is closed and has been for some time. What iOS version you are running on your idevice is not always relevant to what version Apple is signing, as you are now finding out.

It saved shsh's for 4.3.1 because thats the current (shsh) firmware available. Once apple stop signing Firmware you have a limited time to get shsh's for your firmware even if you dont update.

The same happened to me with an iphone 4 i got, it showed 4.3 firmware but I too was too late as apple has finished with 4.3 and is now on 4.3.1 so they dont officially sign/verify 4.3 anymore. I hope this explains it, i too am a noob..to saving shsh's.

To save shsh's Apple too has to be running that version of firmware, when they update you have a small window to save you current shsh, an after that only the next current firmware is all TU can get, or as i've seen here before u would need access to a time machine.

Yes if it indeed save 4.3 shsh you will be able to downgrade to that in the future if u need too, when i saved mine two days ago it only saved 4.3.1 though so make sure you have 4.3, before you upgrade.

Yep, if you have 4.3 you should also have 4.3.1 saved also, if you did it via TU it would of also kick started the auto saving of shsh's on Cydia servers for any subsequent IOS firmware releases.

thanks, TU has only saved for 4.3 not for 4.3.1 anyway i will try to run it again and see what happens

sometimes it doesn't save them right away, for instance I have mine with 4.0.1, 4.02, 4.1, 4.2.1, and 4.2b3, cydia isn't showing neither 4.3 nor 4.3.1, no idea why, even tho I ran TU and it said it was saved.

That's the failsafe, it doesn't matter what Cydia lists on it's home page, what matters is what TU pulls from it, if it pulls them, then they are there, but I think in this instance TU isn't pulling 4.3.1 via Cydia, so it may be worth unchecking 'Request shsh via Cydia' under advanced and getting 4.3.1 direct from Apple just to cover yourself.

yeah that's a great advice, didn't think about it.

TinyUmbrella will ALWAYS get the SHSH from Cydia server. If Cydia server doesn't have it, it requests it from Apple automatically and send it to you. If TinyUmbrella doesn't get 4.3.1, then you're using an old version. TinyUmbrella needs to get updated for every new firmware and 4.3.1 just came out.

No, I disagree.....TinyUmbrella makes the shsh request from Apple via Cydia Servers by default, but you can cut Cydia servers out of the equation by deselecting 'Request shsh via Cydia', this then pulls them direact from Apple but they do not get saved on Cydia servers if you do so......that's my understanding of it.
