Hey guys!

I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this filetype in their iPhone filesystem.

/var/tmp/ac4b567d8.hsinflateddata

I keep getting a bunch of these files accumulating and consequently taking up all the space on my phone. Each file maxes out around 295MB.

Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! Tyler

You've got me curious also now ..... That's a temp folder .

Can I ask what repo/sources you use please ?

hmm...since you mentioned that these files constantly appear on the Temp folder means you have a tweak that works on the springboard or an "extra option theme" but since it's an .hsinflatteddata file...i bet on a tweak

install mobileterminal and less in cydia and do cd /tmp && less *.hsinflateddata it will either ask if it's a binary file, if so i have no idea, otherwise it will show the contents and let you navigate with e and y if so, look for what it contains, not everything but if it like conteains text, or whateber.

no better idea, install file and mobileterminal and do cd /tmp && file *.hsinflatteddata

that will show you the type of it.

Hey @daniel664, where do I install "file" from? It's such a general term I can't seem to track it down :P

(07 May '14, 14:02) tylerforesthauser tylerforesthauser's gravatar image

@Tilerone I can provide a list of repos for sure. Is that enough or do you need to know what tweaks I have installed?

These are the only extra repos I've got installed.

Not sure if it helps at all but I connected my MacBook Pro to my phone and explored the file that way. I am certainly not the most knowledgeable on this stuff but it behaves a lot like an archive of some kind. I'm stuck here, though.

i can't give you an better name, the name is simply file..... u have to have your settings sett to hacker or developer and it's in sauriks's repo....

(07 May '14, 14:58) daniel664 daniel664's gravatar image

@daniel664 Ah that makes sense. Got it. Simply lists each file as "data".

I hate to post such a huge list but this is everything I have installed. I don't know what's all stock, so I've included it all.

Hi Tyler and fellow jailbreakers,

except for the basics + MobileTerminal only Activator/Flipswitch is installed on my iPhone as well.

I have the same files filling up space. This is my shell output:

iphone:/private/var/tmp root# ls -l *hs*
-rw-r--r-- 1 mobile wheel 0 May 8 13:27 0651b3ae.hsinflateddata
-rw-r--r-- 1 mobile wheel 288391168 May 8 13:27 1c7b1d77.hsinflateddata
-rw-r--r-- 1 mobile wheel 345132580 May 8 13:24 3303ae6a.hsinflateddata
-rw-r--r-- 1 mobile wheel 345132580 May 8 13:23 385171cf.hsinflateddata
-rw-r--r-- 1 mobile wheel 345132580 May 8 13:22 39969f8e.hsinflateddata

-rw-r--r-- 1 mobile wheel 345132580 May 8 13:26 b40e37d5.hsinflateddata
-rw-r--r-- 1 mobile wheel 345132580 May 8 13:23 b6a68fee.hsinflateddata
-rw-r--r-- 1 mobile wheel 345132580 May 8 13:25 c49a5448.hsinflateddata
-rw-r--r-- 1 mobile wheel 345132580 May 8 13:23 ccad950f.hsinflateddata
-rw-r--r-- 1 mobile wheel 345132580 May 8 13:21 feda2f08.hsinflateddata
-rw-r--r-- 1 mobile wheel 345132580 May 8 13:24 ffc2a542.hsinflateddata

Is there any way to trace which app/tweak opens these filehandles? Over on the official Apple forums a similiar problem arrises and is apparently related to icloud backups (turning on and off again and resynching through iTunes seems to fix the problem for non-jailbreakers)

I will start uninstalling tweaks and see if it changes anything...

I un-installed flipswitch (and automatically all dependent apps like activator and cccontrol). So far no new hs files and 3.4 GB of free space..

I tried removing Flipswitch, Activator and BatteryPeek but still had an accumulation of these files in no time. One thing I'm noticing is a correlation between the appearance of these files and using iTunes Match. I've disabled iTunes Match and will report back tomorrow.
