How to fix some mysterious problems.

I updated to 4.2.1 on iphone for using tiny umbrella to preserve bb. received error 1013 , ran GreenPois0n. I saw animated boot logo, and phone will not exit DFU mode. What should I Do?

go back to tinyumbrella and click on exit recovery mode on top. report back if it worked!

I had this problem, too. Did what you said rebooted back into recovery mode. Apple's support sites says something about and says you have to edit the Host files. How do I do that?!

Another thing u could do is wait exactly 2 minutes then hold the home and power button until ur device boots normally

Windows User –

Quit itunes

Go to C:WindowsSystem32driversetc

Search for 'hosts' file?

Open 'hosts' with Notepad and DELETE the following line from the end of the text. or something similar to this.

Save and close the 'hosts'?

Mac OS X User -

• Open Finder

• Click on 'Go' from 'Menu Bar'

• Select 'Go to Folder'

• Type '/etc'

• Click 'Go'

• Open 'hosts' with TextEdit and delete the following line from the end of the text.

• 'Save As' it on desktop with same name and make sure to uncheck the box saying 'If no extension is provided, use .txt'

• Drag the 'hosts' file from desktop to 'etc' folder and replace it.

• 'Authenticate' it by entering your computer password.


Download iOS 4.2.1 firmware file

Save or Move it on desktop


• Open iTunes?.

• Windows Users press ‘Shift’ Key / Mac OS X Users press ‘Option’ key and hit ‘Restore’

• Select the downloaded iOS 4.2.1 firmware file
