How to fix some mysterious problems.

I can't live without jailbreak. So I decided to buy new iPad Air or mini. Not sure yet. Is there any possible way to get to know iOS version from unopened box? I can see Serial number, IMEI, Part. No, model. At the bottom is "2013 Apple inc. All rights..." Any key to get to know? Of course I want to buy device below 7.1.

There's no way to know for sure, but since the iPad they send you will probably have been packages up, back in January or February, there is a high chance it will be on iOS 7.0.4 or 7.0.6!

Try this. You can check the serial number before unboxing.

@justinred that doesn't help cAndy know what iOS it is on NOW.

Did you even try the posted site link? It will tell you what firmware your device came from the factory.

EDIT: Nevermind. I just tried it with another device. Sorry. ;-)

Yes, I did. But it says "This is device was shipped with a firmware < 5.0" which doesn't help. It will just say, > 7.0. it won't say whether it was 7.0.4, 7.0.6 or 7.1.

Your device is too old which has no purpose for which this site was designed for.

Yeah, I worked that out. ;-)

Hey,where can I find a serial number on an iPod Touch(the site says its compatible with it)

@King Shoot If you're on device, go to Settings > General > About. It will be there in 'Serial Number'.

If you're looking at the box, it should be on the back somewhere (on the barcode strip?)

Hi. I tried it with my iPad Air and my iPhone 5S and the information was correct. Great! Thank you very much. But I am considering another question/problem... If I buy new iPad(with iOS below 7.1) and there will be problem during jailbreak which came to restore...I will have to restore on iOS I will to say politely:) There is no tools available to help restore a7 devices on iOS 7.1, isn't it?

(19 Apr '14, 05:28) cAndy_asshol cAndy_asshol's gravatar image

That is correct. You cannot restore an ipad air to anything but 7.1.
