I've got pc (window vista which it sucks) and you mean my iTunes is in the latest version? If so, nope, i haven't done the latest update.

1 connect to itunes and backup your device.

2 restore by clicking " restore iphone " in itunes

3 set up as a new device

4 jailbreak

5 restore backed up data using itunes

I am having the same problem. I restored my iPhone to an older backup I had. I ran all the steps but still nothing in the end. It says modifying rootfs and then the evasi0n7 is done and the app closes. Nothing after that, and I am just stuck with evasion app on my iPhone and no Cydia. When I saw some videos online it seems there is a last reboot which didn't happen in my case. With the above comment by Mark, do you mean I just backup my iPhone with evasion installed ? And then restore it to the same backup version. (So that any over the air updates do not exist ?) Or should I remove evasion app and then take a backup and restore as above ?

Also can you please elaborate on step 3 ? Setup as a new device ?

Err. You see the pic in the post? Please tell me you can't see the pic. Did you read the posted instructions? 1 means you do that first, then 2 you do that next and so on.

Thanks Mark but the above solution doesn't work in my case at least.

I think evasion doesn't finish its run as it says modifying rootfs and then the application dies. Any one has faced similar issue ? Or have any answers?

Tried it twice and did a reboot and tried again , no luck.

@Chaitz Restore from backup is not the same as restore iPhone/iPad/iPod firmware. Look and understand the instructions that @Mark Hack posted.

This WORKS. Restore the phone to factory default, re-run the Evasi0n tool and voila! No more install disappearing and no Cydia showing up. Worked like a charm. Thanks for the advice!!!

Patwatson , did you Settings-> General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings or did you do Erase All Content and Settings ? Just trying to find the exact options.

Neither; I did the "Restore iPhone" from the iTunes screen. That does the same thing (and more) than going into the phone and erasing the settings by hand. I tried that early on, and tried reinstalling evasi0n and it didn't work. Doing the restore to factory defaults from the iTunes interface and then running evasi0n worked the first time.
