Do you have 4.2.1 shsh's? Get TinyUmbrella and clisk "Save SHSH" and see if it lists 4.2.1. If not, you can't go to 4.2.1.

Run TinyUmbrella, click "start TSS server." Leave that running. Open iTunes, hold shift and click restore button. Point it to your 4.2.1 ipsw. If you don't have it get it from http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/. Then you can re-jailbreak.

That's normal. You just need to kick it out of recovery mode loop now. Download iREB (http://ih8sn0w.com), run it and click the "Recovery mode loop fixer" tab.

i downloaded ireb, run it and click the "Recovery mode loop fixer" tab. then click "Set Auto-Boot True (Fixes 1015 Errors / Recovery Loops)" but it's still in dfu mode. now?

Hold home+power until you see the Apple logo.

(19 Mar '11, 09:24) spockers ♦♦ spockers's gravatar image

no dude, it's still stuck with usb arrow, i tried so many times but it's didn't work, so i restore it with original version ios 4.1.

That's really odd that iREB wouldn't kick it out of recovery loop. Anyway you could try it again from scratch, or if you're happy with 4.1 you can jailbreak with limera1n.

error 1013 is normal after selective upgrade to 4.2.1 and has to do with the second SHSH response which TU blocks/doesn't support as part of its mechanism to prevent baseband upgrades.

if you plan to jailbreak, then use greenpois0n now, it will jailbreak and bring you out of the recovery loop (only recovery loop of error 1013) if you don't want to jailbreak, put your device in DFU mode and use the Fix Recovery Loop button in TinyUmbrella, it uses greenpois0n exploit to break the recovery loop.

Dear All:

My iPhone4 is 4.1 and I have 4.2.1 SHSH blobs.

I try to use Cydia sign server and TinyUmbrella.

They will keep old baseband and upgrade iOS from 4.1 to 4.2.1 (Of course we will see 1013 error and need to use GP6.1 to fix recovery)

However, I want to know how to complete upgrade(include baseband) from 4.1 to 4.2.1.

Please help.

Thanks.

What baseband are you on now? Are you factory unlocked? Also, you should post your question as a separate thread, this one is getting a bit long...

Thanks for the update, I was beginning to think it must be a clandestine Steve Jobs attack on saurik's server. He's got those throwing stars, you know. Who's to say he doesn't have a ninja suit to go with them? Watch your backs, people...
