guys please help...yesterday bymistake my frnd tried erase all content from his jailbreaked iphone4 ..now his iphone just shows apple nd gp bootlogo... restore on itunes brings up ios 4.3 how to restore it back to previous state ios 4.2.1 |

Assuming you saved your SHSH's with TinyUmbrella, run TinyUmbrella, start TSS server and then shift-restore in iTunes to 4.2.1. i have saved my shsh's in tiny umbella ...can u detail the process 1
Exactly as @spockers says: Run TU, start TSS server, connect iPhone, shift (or option) restore, and select the firmware you want to restore to (see http://jailbreakqa.com/questions/12797/where-can-i-download-firmware-for-my-iphone). Pretty simple. Download 4.2.1 if you don't have it handy. Run TinyUmbrella, start TSS server, open iTunes, hold shift key (or option on Mac) and click restore. Point it to the 4.2.1 ipsw. Cannot Start TSS Service DO NOT TRY RESTORING YOUR DEVICE!!! tinyumbrella-4.30.00.exe(PID:2656) must be killed!! this is what tiny umbrella replies to my phone You have some kind of server running on your computer. You have to find out what it is and shut it down. From that message it looks like you're running 2 copies of TinyUmbrella simultaneously. Correct. If you're not sure what you're doing, the easiest solution is to just reboot your computer and start from scratch. Nevermind that though, if you just run TinyUmbrella and go to the advanced tab and tick "set hosts to cydia on exit" (it might be there already), then exit TU, run iTunes, shift/option restore should work. i guess so..tensed closed tiny umbrella and opened it again ..started the tss server and slected shift +restore waiting for it to restore ..any more steps i have to take...really thnx for ur comments ... No that should do it. presently at white scrren what happens next..???? really thnx i guess so close nd opened tiny umbrella ...started the tss server ....and went on with shift + restore ...it shows unknown restore error at 1601 ..help everything went on well until it finally stopped at unknown restore error 1601 what to do now commetns r not displaying stopped at unknown restore error 1601 what to do now What does the log tab in TU say? Download iREB (windows) and it will put you in pwned DFU mode, then you should be able to restore. okay will try it now..thnx for being thru the process.. No prob, let us know how it goes. followed da xact procedure ..but still got da same error at last even after using iREB .... That should have worked... I'm stumped. i havent touched any button after iREB displayed the message ur phone is in pwned dfu ..but still got error 1601 im using otunes 10.2 sry itunes it displays preparing for restore den da bands go on ....its doenst move a step furthe nd suddenly display the error 1601 now what should i do .... totally confused ... i'm using itunes 10.2 ... tried the same process once again ..returned with the same error please someone help me...... please advice me what should i do now I'm out of ideas, and need to sleep anyway. Someone will be along shortly, I'm sure. It is fixable, just hang in there. hmm...okay hopefully |

Are your shsh's on Cydia server ?, if so under the advanced tab select 'set hosts file to Cydia on exit' then apply, restart TU & your browser just to make sure it got applied, check by clicking on gs.apple.com and hopefully see a Cydia page in your browser. If so, then try to shift/alt - restore to a 4.2.1 ipsw. didnt understand a bit .....where in advanced tab..??? dat option in tu is already ticked up ... Just re-read the whole thread and actually, if Apple are still signing 4.2.1 then you could just shift/alt - restore using itunes, no need to use edited hosts file, deselect the setting for 'Cydia on exit' and apply and click on link and make sure Apple 404 page comes up, then try what I've said. no where the link says its a broken link is there no other way i can resolve this.... tried it two times ..it always say..oops google chrome could not connect to ...gs.apple.com hey i have come to cydia page now what to do now..???? hey just been directed to cydia page after deselecting the option what should i do now..??? Well that's a google chrome issue, works perfect for me on Safari, if you changed the selection in TU and restarted your browser then just try to shift/alt - restore to 4.2.1 anyway, the worst it can do is error out. r u there..??? what should i do know ..after i had deselected cydia option nd then restarted i have been directed to cydia home page .. Restart browser, clear cookies, restart comp, anything to get the change recognised. hmm tried many times now i'm always getting a cydia page give me any other suggestion ...trying every known method frm yesterday ...wid no progress... is there no way i can countinue to firmware 4.2.1 Wel if you have 4.2.1 shsh's on file with Cydia servers then just shift/alt - restore to 4.2.1 and see what happens, again, worst it can do is error out.....but you should really work out how to redirect the host file, there is a manual way (google it) but the TU way should work and point you at Apple 404 page. As for unlock, were you unlocked before at 4.2.1 ?, coz there still aint no unlock for any of the iphone4 basebands except 1.59.xx i have my baseband preserved to 1.59...presently as unlock is going to come out to baseband 3.1 i am okay on upgrading it to bb 3.1 ..but its not working the error 1601 is persisting after everything I've seen this itunes error on a couple of occasions so far, just wondering now if it's got anything to do with itunes, is your itunes up to date.....and I'd think twice about updating that baseband coz there's no telling when the updated ultrasn0w will come. You should try shift/alt - restoring to a Pwnage custom 4.2.1 ipsw as it will have baseband preservation in it, can't be 100% if sn0wbreeze will do the same thing as I've never used it. try restoring. from different computers. that's what you can do at this moment. hmm..but got no choice ... ya i have the latest itunes installed 10.2.1 ..tried umpteen times it just returns the error 1601 ...nd hangs up at white screen what should i do getting frustated over my friend for doing this Try putting it into pwned DFU mode using Redsn0w 0.9.6rc8 and then shift/alt - restore to a custom 4.2.1 ipsw made with Pwnage....baseband update will be blocked. You must try to keep that baseband if you want a guaranteed unlock. just went over to friends place and restored t ..worked like a breeze da process was over in 20 mins... didnt use iREB tu noting just shift nd restore of 4.2.1 ipsw ... thnx for all ur help 1

use tinyumbrella and hopefully your save ssh blob 4.2.1 to restore back to 4.2.1
