How to fix some mysterious problems.

I have a tethered jailbroken iPhone 3GS running iOS 6.1.3 and I jailbroke it with sn0wbreeze. I've put many devices in DFU mode over the years and jailbroken a few devices but I've never come across this problem. My phone died and I started to charge it so I could reboot it like normal. But my phone refuses to enter DFU mode. I hold the home and power button for 10+ seconds and nothing happens. By some stroke of luck yesterday, it went into recovery mode randomly but my computer couldn't identify it because my cord was faulty. So that at least tells me that my home and sleep button are still functional. Can anyone help me?

I think maybe replacing the cord (pretty evidently would solve your problem) or maybe I'm missing something here?? :)

The cord wouldn't let it get it identified. Its not affecting the phone entering DFU mode. Besides, I bought a new cord today.

The Phone will not enter DFU mode though. Nothing happends when I hold down the sleep and home buttons.

Well if the cord is causing that problem who knows what ever else problems it may cause, correct or not?

The cord has nothing to do with the problem. WHen I hold the home and sleep buttons, nothing happens.

Ok when I had that problem it was because I had a faulty home button, is that a possibility?

Most likely a broken power button. You can do rec mode using home button by press hold and connecting cable to computer with itunes.
