How to fix some mysterious problems.

I have an iPhone 4 which is jailbroken. I want to remove the jailbreak so i can update the iOS then jailbreak it again. If I do this will all my settings be reset, and will the cydia apps be deleted. If this is the case is there any way to keep all the apps and settings i currently have?

What shsh blobs do you have? You can only update to iOS 7, which has no jailbreak yet, unless you have shsh blobs for some other version. What iOS is it currently running?

Save your 6.1 blobs by using iFaith's "Dump" button, then you'll be able to restore 6.1 at any time. Without doing that you can only restore iOS 7, and you won't be able to go back.

Instead of restoring to a stitched ipsw and rejailbreaking again, you can use Coolstars Semirestore for Mac, Linux and Windows. It almost restores your device completely, meaning it basically gets rid of all Appstore Apps, Modifications through Cydia, but IT KEEPS THE JAILBREAK.

After you use the tool, your device is like a freshly jailbroken device on your firmware, but without bothering about SHSH and stuff.

@Miladiir Thanks for this additional information re: 3.

That sounds alot easier. I will probably try this, thanks for the help.

I hope this helps, and isn't too much info. ;)

  1. Per spockers, extract the 6.1 SHSH blobs from it with iFaith 1.5.9 (and save in multiple places, including Cydia).

  2. In addition to your iTunes backups, perform Cydia backups too.

  3. Depending on your current situation, SemiRestore might be of interest.

  4. Don't restore it to Apple's current iOS and don't install iTunes 11.1 (unless you absolutely must for some reason) and if 11.1 is installed it will need to be downgraded before restoring a custom ipsw.

  5. You can create a custom 6.1 ipsw with its blobs using iFaith 1.5.9 (for unjailbreaked 6.1 with baseband preserved) then option/shift+restore that via iTunes in Pwned DFU mode, and after that manually either use evasi0n to jailbreak it, or redsn0w 0.9.15b3 'Select IPSW' 6.0 and 'Jailbreak';

  6. Alternatively, you can create a custom 6.1 ipsw with its blobs using sn0wbreeze 2.9.14's iFaith mode (for jailbreaked 6.1 with baseband preserved) then option/shift+restore that via iTunes in Pwned DFU mode, and after that see it automatically install evasi0n.

  7. Everything will be deleted and/or reset to initial jailbreak state / factory iPhone settings (except Cydia re: 3 and/or the baseband version re: 3, 5 & 6) and then you can recover from the backups and/or re-implement tweaks etc.
