Please note that removing this line from hosts file avoids the error - because it allows updating the baseband. Only do this if you don't need an unlock.

Check your host file (Windows its in the C:Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts) and make sure you don't have any lines in it such as (Edit hosts file with notepad)

74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com

or

74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

I'm assuming you are running 4.2.1 iOS on the restore also and (unless in the past few days) TinyUmbrella wont "kick our of recovery mode" on 4.2.1. But someone correct me If I am wrong on that.

EDIT: Just informed by el Spockster that Tiny Umbrella has been updated and should work for kicking it out of recovery mode on your phone. So go download Tiny Umbrella, http://thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com/ run it with your phone attached, click the "kick out of recovery mode" and see now if you can get into your phone. You should be able to and it should work fine.

Try that mang. :)

GOod Luck :)

TU was updated yesterday for Windows, recovery fix. Also I noticed you're using dashes for backslashes in your post, if you use double backslashes they will show as a single backslash. ;)

Ahh ok sweet about the TU being updated.

Ill edit my post.. thanks for hte double backslashes too :P

Just so you know, the 1013 error means that the baseband failed to update, which is exactly what most of us actually want to see! In 99.999% of the cases, it means that you're using either TinyUmbrella's server, or Saurik's server to sign your update (and thus preserve your current baseband).

The rest of the restore (the normal firmware part) should generally still have worked, you just need to kick it out of Recovery Mode using TU.

Thank you all for your responses i did this and it worked like a charm

  1. Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > Notepad
  2. Go to File > open
  3. Navigate to c:windowssystem32driversetc\
  4. Select the “hosts” file and click “open”
  5. Delete any line that has “sc.apple.com
  6. Go to File > Save
  7. Restore your iPhone.

PS: http u scared the s... out of me man, Unlock i am waiting for it for like 4 months now hhahhha double checked on TinyUmbrella and my baseband is still 03.10.01 let us wait and see hopefully it will be in time. Thank you all once again

If you upgraded it already or have an official unlock, then just ignore my warning. But there are others that don't know this.

Depends on your model and baseband. As you mention a baseband of 03.10.01, I'm guess you're on a 3G S? I think you're safe on that, but I haven't messed around with 3G S unlocks for a year now. Someone else want to confirm this?

I am on iPhone 4 4.2.1 bb 03.10.01 ?!?!?!?

Then I think you're stuffed (for now). AFAIK, 01.59.00 is currently the only unlockable iPhone 4 baseband. Things may change in another few days after 4.3 is released, but we'll all have to wait and see for that.

Correct. On iPhone 4, only baseband 01.59.00 can be unlocked. Any upgraded version can't.
