Question

Since iPhone 4 GSM (Rev A) is the 8GB variant, and iPhone 4 GSM is the 16GB or 32GB variant, why are the .ipsw files named differently. iPhone3,2_7.0_11A465_Restore.ipsw for iPhone 4 GSM (Rev A) and iPhone3,1_7.0_11A465_Restore.ipsw for iPhone 4 GSM. Can't you simply use iPhone3,1_7.0_11A465_Restore.ipsw (iPhone 4 GSM) for both ?

There are six 8GB iPhone 4 GSM models and only the ME798 and ME799 are Rev A (first five characters of Model in Settings > General > About) so the iPhone3,1 ipsw can be used for all iPhone 4 GSM models except for those two (they require the iPhone3,2 ipsw).

iPhone 4 (GSM Rev A) [ME798 & ME799] - released October 2011 , iPhone3,2_7.0_11A465_Restore.ipsw

The model no [A1332], [ME798 & ME799] is on your iphone 4 back cover.

Can I use the iPhone3,2_7.0_11A465_Restore.ipsw for any iphone 4 ?
