How to fix some mysterious problems.

Recently I have switched from my old iPhone 4 to a new iPhone 5. I have synced and manually backed up my data from the old iPhone 4 via iTunes, but when I restore the iPhone 5 to the iPhone's data the SMS messages are not available. Everything from the iPhone 4 transfers to the iPhone 5 (Contacts, Pictures, Call History, etc.), but the only thing missing is my old SMS messages.

Does anyone know a fix for this?

Below are the specs for both iPhone devices:

iPhone 4 (GSM) iOS: 6.1.2 Jailbroken: Yes

iPhone 5 (GSM) iOS: 6.0.1 Jailbroken: Yes

To be able to restore from itunes backup which includes sms data, source device must be equal or of lower firmware version than the target device. Since your iP4 is higher version than your iP5, you synched data which does not include sms database.

I assume that at this time there is no way to update my iPhone 5 to iOS 6.1.2 to keep my jailbreak?

Nope. Only firmware you can restore to is 6.1.4 with no jb.
