Its possible to give manually the driver location by doing the following:

  • Double click the USB devices icon next to the time/clock in the lower right corner.
  • Select the device from the list of USB connected devices, then click "Properties".
  • On the USB device properties windows click the "Driver" tab.
  • Click the "Update Driver" button.
  • Next tell windows not to connect to Microsoft site or find the driver automatically.
  • Next specify the following location for the driver: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
  • The PC should install the driver and you can try again.

If the above doesn't work you can try to remove iTunes and reinstall it, the proper way includes removing the iTunes components in the following order before reinstalling:

  • iTunes
  • QuickTime
  • Apple Software Update
  • Apple Mobile Device Support
  • Bonjour
  • Apple Application Support

From your comment i can tell you are properly entering DFU mode however the driver is not the correct one, if you go to the Device Manager you will find a new device is added under one of the categories as a camera or a portable device (you can make sure by observing the changes as you unplug the device).

Once you identify the wrong device listing of the DFU mode, connect your device, turn it off and enter DFU mode, observe the device listing appearing in the Windows Device Manager, right click it and update the driver selecting the driver location as in my answer above, this should solve it.
