If you tap "Update" in the App Store and the app opens instead of updating, this is an Apple bug instead of anything related to your jailbreak.

Alright, I'll try and make this as specific as I can. So I had an iPhone 4 ios 5.0.1 jailbroken, and I decided to update to 6.1.3 and re-jailbreak it. I updated my iPhone after many attempts and then tried jailbreaking with redsnow trying with both iPhone3,2 6.0 10A403 Restore.ipsw, and iPhone3,1 6.0 10A403 Restore.ipsw (I didn't know which to use, but now I know that the later is the right one). All my attempts failed to work. I then decided to restore my iPhone to factory settings and then restore with a backup. After restoring, I found cydia on the second page. However, cydia, safari, mail, and gamecenter fail to load so I realized that my phone must need a "Just Boot" to enable cydia. "Just Boot" did nothing and my later attempts to restore my phone again gave me a 21 error code. Can someone tell me how to either make the "Just Boot" work or how to remove the jailbreak so I can start from scratch?

I may have figured out a solution. I will try restoring with redsn0w instead of itunes and see if that gets rid of cydia. Please tell me if this is the right thing to do or not.

Sounds like the tethered jailbreak is not for you. Connect to iTunes, click "Restore". Be advised to back up any needed data as this will reformat your iPhone to factory settings at which time you can reload your data from back up or iCloud.

That's the thing. My iPhone fails to restore in any manner (through iTunes, through the iPhone).

Put the iPhone into DFU mode, and then connect to iTunes on your PC or Mac. Click Restore.

Alright, I managed to restore my iPhone after trying on a different computer. I will try the jailbreak again because I know it works (I performed the jailbreak on my brother's iPhone 4).

SMH.. you will run into the same problem. iOS 6.1.3 is tethered only, meaning you will have the same booting problems you experienced before. If you do not like being tethered, a tethered jailbreak is NOT for you. Keep in mind a tethered jailbreak requires you to enter DFU mode and "just boot" every time your device powers down and back up.

I read up on this jailbreak before attempting it; I know its a tethered jailbreak and I know what that means. I don't mind a tethered jailbreak, the problem was that I ran into some problems along the way that are now fixed.

Okay, problem solved. For anyone who stumbles upon this post in the future and wants to know what happened in the end, here's the solution:

I managed to restore my iPhone back to factory settings using a different computer. Then I restored from a back-up and Cydia along with the jailbreak disappeared. Then, I successfully performed the jailbreak with redsn0w on the first try and everything works great.
