chpwn @Simon818 You'll be able to get the deb from apt.saurik.com/debs/ when it's out. 1 day ago  in reply to Simon818

I'll guess we get plenty of questions on how to do that.......just read the tweets myself and based on that, it could still come as update when opening Cydia.

Yeah I didn't read 'em all but either way there'll be plenty of questions ;)

Aside from that, I was just reading Saurik's blog (it's old but I just got around to it) and he writes better than a lot of English-major professional columnists, plus he's a great programmer. Very rare combination. I now understand the restore authentication process much better. For anyone who's interested it's here: http://www.saurik.com/id/12

And about twitter, more things I didn't quite get before: http://www.saurik.com/id/11

No release information has been given regarding Cydia 1.1. Your best option is to follow Saurik and Chpwn on Twitter, they'll be your best source of information about the when and how of a release.

Given that this scenario hasn't previously occurred (and given the immense load that would hit any repository/server providing the update), I would have thought a better (and perhaps more likely option) would be a downloadable deb file at first. That would both spread the load and allow for a more gradual uptake, helping find and fix any bugs before it finally made it into a repository.

Well I would guess it would probably be more user friendly than adding a deb file, I doubt everyone is up to speed on doing that, but whatever we say is just speculation and we'll have to wait & see what happens.
