Only seen it reported for 4.2.1, however it's entirely possible that as it's iBooks causing the problem, it can retroactively affect all firrmware versions.

Apple rewrote the code used by iBooks to launch "protected" books so it fails if the iDevice is jailbroken. The issue is the newest version of the iBooks app, not any specific firmware. In other words, the problem code is part of the iBooks app, not the iOS. There is a fix for this, the newest Greenpois0n rc6.1 (I believe) or get the "hunnypot.deb" and install it in your iDevice.

It may still require something in the framework of 4.2.1 to allow iBooks to actually implement the jailbreak checks. I'm quite curious to know if anyone has seen this issue in other versions.

The older versions of iBooks work(ed) fine under 4.2.1. Those "smart" enough not to update the iBooks app never had an issue. Thanks to @comex, everyone is happy again. Is that what you were asking ?

Still curious if running the current version of iBooks on an older firmware still has the anti-jailbreak component though.
