I was upgrading to 6.1.2, saved my blobs using iFaith, built the signed IPSW with iFaith, used the DFU-pwner in iFaith and restored the phone using iTunes. Everything seemed to work fine, the iFaith logo and a progress bar showed. But after finishing I am still in DFU mode. redsn0w recognizes it as in "Soft DFU". I cannot seem to get out of this mode. Here is what i tried: - holding any combination of Power/Home brings no effect - rerunning the DFU-pwner only detects an "unrecognized device" - updating the firmware again with iTunes results in an 1600-error - tinyumbrella's fix-recovery does not have any effect What are my options to get out of this state? Downgrade to 4.x/5.x? Upgrade to 6.1.3 :(? |
Okay. Only way to see any kind of response. Get redsn0w, download the 6.0 IPSW from any site. JUST 6.0. Open redsn0w, click select IPSW, open the 6.0 IPSW. Next click Just Boot, after going back. It should say connected in soft DFU. Now hold the power and home button together till the next button activates on redsn0w. Click Next without releasing any button. (DONT FOLLOW THOSE INSTRUCTIONS) Keep holding both buttons for 4 seconds and then release the power button but keep holding the Home button. Now redsn0w will turn your device on. But you have to do a tethered boot everytime so just downgrade to any 5.X.X iOS. That's what I'll be doing too....Tell me how it goes. Needless to say you can only downgrade with your Blobs and a PWND DFU state which you can enter using the instructions I mentioned while booting. No other set of instructions seem to work with my iPod. Good Luck. Keep Posting Alright, I managed to get out of soft dfu by holding power+home until redsn0w shows the device as not in soft dfu, then I managed to get into pwned DFU mode with iFaith again. I could restore to 5.0.1, but every time I try a 6.x version, I get stuck in soft-dfu. Is this because of faulty blobs or am I simply doing it wrong? If you are using 6.x blobs from cydia, then the phone is getting stuck in soft DFU due to faulty blobs, you were doing nothing wrong. Alright, that was the problem. I am back on 5.x now. It could be promoted a little more (in the restoring tutorials) that the cydia 6.x blobs can/could be faulty... Please read the first two lines on the top of this page!! Nothing there suggests the faulty storing of blobs by cydia. It however states that one can indeed upgrade to 6.x using shsh's backed up by cydia using iFaith. Apparently that is not (always) possible... 1
@yesyesyes, yes you are right! I think you are right, there should be a mechanism to warn users downloading blobs from Cydia server. May be they are trying to fix the problem! Mr sandkuma002, do you know what blobs are corrupted? All 6.x or maybe 5.x? And only A4 devices? Just to make things clear... I heard it is a problem with just the 6.x blobs, that's why I downgraded to 5.1.1 and at least that was successful.... what a headache of thinking it was me screwing things up! :) I went through the process 3 times with itunes successfully just to end up in soft dfu mode each time.... 1
6.x blobs saved by cydia are corrupt. Apparently not all such blobs are corrupt, but there's currently no way to tell in advance, you have to stitch and restore to find out. Or, you can email them to me and I'll check. See this post for details. They said you can dump blobs on ifaith if your device was still in 6.1.2. You can use its blobs. Cydia blobs just are plain ol no good it seems unfortunately! |
