I'm trying to JB using redsn0w, as this seems to be the only option if you have an iPhone 4 on 6.1.3
(iPhone 4 on iOS 6.1.3, using redsn0w 0.9.15b3 on Mac)

Opening redsn0w
Connecting the iPhone to my laptop
Clicking on Jailbreak
Then following redsn0w instructions to enter pwned DFU mode

Everything goes smoothly, but after a while i get this screen:
(then nothing happens)

Missing Keys.plist data for this build

Device: iPhone4
ECID: xxxxx…
Build: iPhone3,1_6.1.3_10B329

Any idea?

Download the iOS 6.0 (not 6.1.3) firmware for your device from http://icj.me/ios. When it's done downloading, click Extras -> Select IPSW in redsn0w and open the firmware you downloaded.

Downloading… thanks!

At what point of the process do i have to click Extras and select the iOs 6.0?

Right now redsn0w is still stuck on that message screen (i can only Quit or go Back)

Do i just need to go back (leaving my iPhone in the state it is right now) and follow the procedure you mentioned or do i need to start again and at some point click Extras?

Click Back and then Extras -> Select IPSW and open it. Then you can go back and click Jailbreak again. (If your iPhone is already in DFU, the jailbreak process will skip the "enter DFU mode" screen)

ok, everything went well

but now i have the same problem when going for the 'Just boot', same message:

Missing Keys.plist data for this build

Device: iPhone4 ECID: xxxxx… Build: iPhone3,1_6.1.3_10B329

so i follow your procedure again (go back and select iOS 6.0), then bakc again to click 'Just boot' and it wants to enter pwned DFU mode again… looks like i'm stuck in a loop of sort…

Am i missing something?

I thought there was no jailbreak for 6.1.3...

There is always a tethered jailbreak for devices with an A4 or older CPU (note that this is answered in the FAQ)

(22 Mar '13, 10:28) kirb ♦ kirb's gravatar image

You can always restore firmwares with an A4 or older CPU, but as far as I'm aware, 6.1.3 is NOT jailbreakable.

A4 devices will always be exploitable (jailbreakable) due to the boot-level exploit that is used to jailbreak them. As far as I know though although jailbreakable the jailbreak will be tethered. To rectify the problem above I would suggest fully closing redsn0w. Opening it and then going to extras --> select ipsw --> choose the iOS 6 ipsw and then select just boot. If that doesn't work then I'm sorry but I don't know what's wrong so you will just have to wait for the official redsn0w update.

There won't be one; this method has been in use since 6.0.1.

@aidanharris thank you, everything works now cydia is right there on my home screen ;)

I jailbroke my iphone 4 6.1.3 with redsnow. Just open, extras, select ipsw, 6.0, then hit jailbreak, follow thru, when done an phone turns on, restart redsnow, extras, select ipsw, 6.0 again then boot tethered and youll be done.

The install this repo thebigboss.org/semitether This allows device to be semitethered which allows it to be rebooted in unjailbroken state untill boot tethered. Happy jailbreaking and ill help with any questions.

@ElementalFlow isn't the jb of an iphone 4 6.1.3 semitethered already without any other tweak?

my phone was working smoothly even before boothing tethered (apart from the mail app, and maybe something else i didn't check, safari i guess…)

(22 Mar '13, 15:33) effective effective's gravatar image

Yes it actually should be without the tweak, but in the tweak it explains how after the user install a set amount of tweaks ( probably since most might not be compatiable yet with 6.1.3 ) the phone will eventually reboot into a state where youll be forced to use a computer to turn it back on :/ ) so the tweak seems helpful i suppose lol and yess theres a fix for te safari app as well with the tweak :)

Semitether (the package) is obsolete. The jailbreak has been automatically semitethered for a while now (since 5.1 I believe)

(22 Mar '13, 21:53) kirb ♦ kirb's gravatar image

Oh yes i believe it did say that but im just going off the conditions explaimed im the package. It warned how after certein tweaks are applied, the semitether from within the actual jailbreak becomes unuseable. Also it comes woth a safari fix too as a plus so i guess thats a good thing :p
