How to fix some mysterious problems.

I have my factory unlocked iphone 4 with iOS4.1 with modem firmware 02.10.04. I did jailbreak using limera1n two or three months before and it works fine. I want to upgrade iOS to 4.2.1 and jailbreak again. I am not sure the right way to do and if it is possible to jailbreak for this? I am quite confused now.

If you Factory unlocked so there is no problem with the baseband, so you can use iTune to upgrade your firmware to 4.2.1 and your baseband ganna be 03.10.01, then you can use Greenpoi0n to jailBreak your device.

use google and you will find every thing about restore, update and jailbreak.

Thanks both of you. I will upgrade my firmware and stay with 4.2.1 except there is new solution for 4.3.

If it's factory unlocked update as per the itunes prompt when you connect, or restore if you want to kill all signs of current jailbreak, a fresh start so to speak, you can jailbreak with either GP, Sn0wbreeze (Win), or Pwnage (Mac), if you use either of the last two you will need a copy of the 4.2.1 firmware, which you would now have having updated via itunes.

You never ever need to concern yourself with baseband issues, if you accidentally update to 4.3 when it comes, the worst you can do is lose your jailbreak if no new tools have been released, but you can use shsh's to downgrade to 4.2.1 if you so wish. Have you started the shsh saving process via Cydia from your current jailbreak?

thanks both of you. what do you mean I can use shsh's to downgrade to 4.2.1. Does this mean I have to save shsh before upgrade?

If you haven't already done it, then you must do it before the 4.2.1 signing window closes, sometime around the release of 4.3 When you open Cydia right now, what does it say at the top of the home page, any SHSH listed?, if not download TinyUmbrella and use that to 'save shsh'
