How to fix some mysterious problems.

I just bought a jailbroken, unlocked iphone 3gs from ebay. It was working well. I believe it had ios4.1 on it. Yesterday I had it connected to itunes and accidently updated to ios6. For a while it would take me through the set-up (language, wifi, ect) but wouldn't activate so I tried to go through the steps to downgrade using this tutorial ( and it didn't work. It didn't give me the error message it was suppose to and tinyumbrella didn't let me exit recovery.

I've restored it a couple times and get an error message (-600) and now exiting recovery with TinyUmbrella doesn't change anything. Still getting the "Connect to iTunes" image and iTunes says "unable to continue with your activation at this time". Does anyone have some advice for how to get it out of recovery?!

thanks yall! someone help me step by step in chat! We basically used redsn0w to downgrade my baseband, upgrade to ios 6.0, and jailbreak it. Then I installed envasi0n from cydia to untether the jailbreak and ultrasn0w to unlock it. Works great. Just had to download HandcentSMS from cydia to use text.

i think your iphone have the ipad baseband that you need to reinstall it because after the update the baseband has been flashed use redsn0n last version and reinstall it after this do a restore using a snOwbreeze created file for your iphone on ios 6.1.2

@Eliogab I really appreciate you answering and trying to help, but I'm having a hard time understanding your answer without complete sentences or punctuation. I don't know very much about iphones so there's already a communication barrier right there. Can you point me toward a good tutorial? The ones I've used so far haven't worked :/

Hold your iPhone's power button for a 3 seconds then hold your home button for 10 seconds and finally let go of your power button and keep holding the home button then connect your iPhone to the computer with your USB this should put your iphone in DFU mode and iTunes on your computer will recognize it and restore and update your iPhone like normal

@cooldashingparth @dabiannaa and anyone else new: go to the IRC chat and post your question. You're more likely to get step by step help from someone awesome.

Also, below my original question I have a basic outline of what I was guided to do to fix my phone so you could also follow that if you're familiar with those programs.
