How to fix some mysterious problems.

Hello. I got my iPhone 4s jailbroken using the evasi0n tool. The os version is iOs 6.0 I have been experiencing apps( from the app store) crashing. Specifically those apps that utilize the camera, like instagram, camera 360.etc

Now i feel like i wanna go back to its previous unjailbroken state. But how? I mean jailbreaking is great. Lots of good stuffs. But i wanna try injailbreaking now and see if it fixes the problem( note: i have already tried numerous solutions like reinstalling the apps. Rebooting. Soft reset but none of them solved the dillema so far)

How can i go back to my iPhones previous unjailbroken state? I am new to this device in fact this is my first iDevice. So im kinda confused how?

Thanks a lot. God bless :))

Thank you for your answer. But. I already did that using my backup but after rebooting, cydia is still installed, which means the device is still jailbroken. Help. Pls.

restore from backup and restore are not the same. restore restores the ios. restore from backup just puts a backup of the phone back on it (doesnt touch the ios itself)

It mentions some purchased apps that I would lose if I restore, but I don't know how to get them? I guess also will lose my current settings, passwords, etc.? (:-((

@walkerpbusa Right-click your device in iTunes in the left panel and select "backup." If you don't have that panel on the left, hit ctrl+s. You will lose your jailbreak if you restore, just so you know.

You will not lose any apps, all purchases are associated with your Apple ID and you will be able to download them again. If you have a specific version of the app or one that is no longer available from Apple, then you may want to transfer those to your Mac or PC prior to restore.

Thanks for your replies & assurance (both of you), but I tried both suggestions (backup & then restore). It failed with a 3014, a familiar error to me, but the Apple support page with all its hints did not supply any problem or fix which matched my known situation or that I was able to correct.

This is what I saw: This page is just a placeholder. To publish your site, place your HTML and image files in the data directory.

Your hosts is correct, so it must be a firewall. 3014 means unable to connect to Apple's authentication server. What sort of internet connection do you have? Home? University? Public? Do you have a firewall running?

Thank you sir/ma'am for your well-intended reply. I have submitted your exact words to my colleagues in network (I'm a part-time volunteer in a non-profit's IT department where I attempted the restore/upgrade). I think, sir (due to circumstances beyond my control I am also walkerpbusa) that I had upgraded my 4s from from 6.1.1 to 6.1.2 on the system I am asking about successfully. Whether it was jailbroken at the time, I do not know, but judging from your comments it doesn't matter.

(10 May '13, 12:42) walkerpbus walkerpbus's gravatar image

You cannot restore a 4s to 6.1.2, only iOS6 ou can restore to is latest 6.1.3.

I'm lost in the details. I can't update to 6.1.3; I can't unjailbreak. I don't know what to do. Please help.

(20 May '13, 17:37) walkerpbus walkerpbus's gravatar image

You can update to 6.1.3. You can unjailbreak. They are both completed in one easy action.

(20 May '13, 17:44) spockers ♦♦ spockers's gravatar image

Sir/ma'am, how would that be accomplished? I'm eager to learn, but still unfamiliar enough (I received this iPhone 4S now stuck at 6.1.2 in 11-2012) to be a bit skeptical after several unsuccessful tries.

BTW, how do I receive notification of a reply to my last comment? I would like it to be to my email, but I'm not sure it happens?

@walkerpbus / @walkerpbusa start your own new question, don't hijack some else's. It gets confusing when multiple people are asking and answering in teh same thread.
