Does iTunes recognize your iPhone?

If evasi0n doesn't seem to recognize your device: Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed, and make sure you're using a USB port that works. People on Windows may need to run evasi0n as an administrator. If that doesn't help, try restoring your device with iTunes and then seeing if evasi0n recognizes it.

You need the latest version of iTunes to make it work i.e. iTunes 11.
