Help with jailbreaking and Cydia for iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches.

okay, well it seems like my ipod is on a tethered jailbreak. is there a way i could try to reboot tethered?

You want to go from ethered to UNtethered?

yes IOS 6.1 and yes but my cydia app wont open up

I dunno how you can be tethered.

Do you have a backup?

If not, do so.

If so, I'd start everything from scratch.

okay i was looking for a way to fix it without restoring but so far thats the only answers ive been getting so thanks for the input

and i dont know how its tethered . i downloaded the Evas0in untethered jailbreak and it worked fine. i could turn my device on and off anytime i wanted. i downloaded ifile, sbsettings/activator, localiapstore, and was trying to dwonload displayout but my ipod froze in the middle of the download so i force rebooted it by holding the power and home button. when it turned back on none of my jailbreak features worked. i cant even open up cydia.

Reboot and hold volume up till springboard. Launch cydia and remove recent installed apps. reboot to return to JB state.

just tried that multiple times but it doesnt work. it still seems like im in a tethered jailbreak and need to reboot with a computer

What gen iPod? If 4th gen, use redsn0w 9.15b3/extras/browse for 6.0 (NOT 6.1) ipsw/back/just boot tethered.

thats what i thought at first but at the top it doesnt say "safe mode" and i cant touch the status bar to respring. i cant open ifile, cydia, or activator and sbsettings doesnt work. plugged my ipod back into the computer and opened the jailbreak file. i clicked jailbreak and it started injecting files but then came up "error: your device appears to be using a semi-tether jailbreak.please use the evasi0n untether package from cydia to untether instead." so i dont know what happened or what to do.

and i dont know how to reboot tethered

When you first jailbreak with evasi0n, the first new icon you see is not cydia, this is new, you had to click on this file, you remember? Can't ou locate that file now?

I think I'm starting to understand this semi-tether thing...

evasi0n works differently then previous jailbreak tools. It works in two times. First, it JB tether. Then, when you click on the new icon, before cydia, it kind of "untether" the JB, and I guess your dowload somewhat screwed something up at that level. As for the solution, I'm not there yet. sorry.

when i reboot my device the file reappears on my springboard. and when i open it it quickly exits out. i can delete it from my springboard but everytime i rebbot my device it reappears.

you're talking about the evasi0n file?

i believe so. its the app that appears with an arrow pointing left. its named "jailbreak"

Yup. That is a new issue I'd say as, again, this JB tool works in two times. Maybe someone else would be better "equipped" than me to help you out at that point. Else, I'm afraid your best bet would be to start from scratch. Good luck pal
