How to fix some mysterious problems.

I have a factor unlocked iPhone 4S which was jailbroken on 5.1.1. I wanted to update to 6.1 by doing a clean restore from iTunes to jailbreak it later. Here is what I did: 1. Backed up the iPhone. 2. Downloaded iOS 6.1 from an external source (not iTunes but still from apple's servers). 3. Did a restore using the SHIFT + Restore Method but after successfully restoring without any error up until iTunes shows a counter saying it will reset factory default setting in "whatever" seconds then, iTunes puts the iPhone in DFU mode and tells me to restores again. 4. Does it again, same result.

I am not using a TSS Server or changed the host or any kind of unusual restore method, I am just doing a clean restore. Tried it with downloading the firmware from iTunes itself, no change. On other computers, no change.

Tried restoring using the latest redsn0w 0.9.15b3 but got the same result, it says it successfully restored to 6.1 but goes back to DFU mode.

Please Help, Thanks in Advance.

You mean connect to itunes screen? That's recovery mode. Make sure your host file points to apple. Also best to disable antivirus and firewall. Also check filesize of your ipsw if its the correct size. You may want to redownload the ipsw in case it is corrupt. Also make sure iTunes is latest.

Not Connect to iTunes, DFU Mode (just a black screen). The file size is correct. I don't have an antivirus I just installed this version of Windows and the firewall is disabled.

No errors, goes to the point where it says will restart with factory default settings and then goes to DFU mode (Black Screen). goes to an apple site.

Any chance you can go to Apple Store and ask them to do it on one of their Macs?
