How to fix some mysterious problems.

So I have my iPod touch 4, jailbroken and working nicely, until I tried to reply to an iMessage... If I slide to view it from the lock screen, or tap the notification from Notification Center, it takes me to the New Message screen, and then tells me that the person doesn't have iMessage on that phone number, and has the red exclamation mark next to it if I click it.

This is very annoying, as I have to do that l then click cancel, and reply. I think it may be something to do with the fact it makes an iPod touch act almost like an iPhone when you jailbreak, so it's trying to reply via text or something stupid first? (It works when replying to email iMessage address, just not iPhone number addresses).

So how can I fix this? Is there a way I can delete the SMS part of the phone through iFile?
