Once in dfu mode go into iTunes and click restore. Entering DFU Mode (Official Instructions) Plug your device into your computer. Turn off the device. Hold the Power button for 3 seconds Hold the Home button without releasing the Power button for 10 seconds Release the Power Button but keep holding the Home button Keep holding the Home button until you are alerted by iTunes saying that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode Make sure the device screen is blank and no logos are present If you can't get it to turn off then do this. Hard reset by pressing and holding the home and power button until restart. As it restarts Hold the Home button without releasing the Power button for 10 seconds Release the Power Button but keep holding the Home button Keep holding the Home button until you are alerted by iTunes saying that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode To restore the iCloud backup you will need to restore the device and on the welcome screen choose to restore from the iCloud backup or connect to iTunes and restore from the iTunes backup. Once you restore it is a fresh install. Also I would wait until everything is downloaded and restored. Then I would jailbreak. |
I am a total iPhone jailbreak newbie. Switched from Android rooting, very different. How do I enter DFU mode? How do I restore after entering DFU mode? And when I'm done with that, what can I do to have my iCloud jailbreak when I restore?

I just held it down and my phone opened up like regular. Now how do I restore my iCloud backup?
Or should I still restore through iTunes?
No need as the data has not been lost.
To restore the iCloud backup you will need to restore the device and on the welcome screen choose to restore from the iCloud backup or connect to iTunes and restore from the iTunes backup.
Restore the device through iTunes right? Will I keep my jailbreak?
No. Just use the device. No need to restore now as you fixed it.
If he reset his content but it still opened up then I'm assuming the content might have been lost. Anyways if his intent was a fresh install he would have to restore anyways and use the backup. And if he still wanted the jailbreak he would have to run evasi0n again.
"To restore the iCloud backup you will need to restore the device and on the welcome screen choose to restore from the iCloud backup or connect to iTunes and restore from the iTunes backup." That is what I was talking about. I want to restore my iCloud backup
Then yes restore the device in iTunes and once the restore is finished on the DEVICE you will see a welcome screen. Follow the steps until you see do you want to restore using iCloud? Type in your apple Id and choose the iCloud backup you want to restore from.
Thank you darknlight55. One more thing, I thought that you're not supposed to jailbreak if not on a fresh install. Is it okay for me to do that? What will happen? And can I jailbreak while the apps and everything else is being redownloaded or should I wait for it all to finish?

I totally understand how to restore an iCloud backup at device setup. I just didn't know if I could do it while jailbroken. Can I jailbreak without the clean install/right after I restore?
Once you restore it is a fresh install. Also I would wait until everything is downloaded and restored. Then I would jailbreak.
The restore was to make sure basically everything is running smoother for the jailbreak and to correct any issues if you had ever done a over the air update from settings because it messes up the shsh blobs and is not supported.
Sure
