You'll need the device drivers that come bundled with it and you'll need it to backup your data.

happy to evasi0n

You generally need the Apple drivers installed by iTunes for a computer to interact with the phone. The evasi0n website recommends that you should backup up your phone with iTunes before doing the jailbreak, but you will need to close the iTunes program before actually using evasi0n so that evasi0n can use the drivers without interference from iTunes. If you don't like to have iTunes installed, the drivers can also be installed by installing the iPhone Configuration Utility, but again, don't have iPCU itself running during jailbreaking.

iPhone Configuration Utility is available here: (Windows) (Mac)
