If you want the evasi0n jailbreak then you will have to upgrade to 6.1 since you are currently not on a 6.x iOS. Apple is only signing 6.1.

A complete restore is not required but an update to 6.1 is required

It depends on you yourself. But my iPod touch 4 runs iOS 6...just like a Pentium 1 runs Windows Vista...

I already on 5.1.1 jailbreak, but I want to update to official 6.x without having to restore my iPod, since I have 20g+ on my iPod... And it will take forever to backup.

Set it to run overnight while you sleep if possible

Backup won't I include iTunes media files as they already should exist in iTunes but it will probably take "forever" to restore.

Not if you delete the original files to free up hard drive space...

Can't backup, I don't have enough space on my computer for it.

(03 Feb '13, 23:49) Sukinato Sukinato's gravatar image

Well you need to organize your computer better and get more storage. You need enough space on your iTunes machine to hold all your data including apps, music, videos, etc. It's called sync for a reason, not move, when you put stuff on the device. If the original files aren't there anymore you have problems. Good luck.

(03 Feb '13, 23:54) Pepper ♦ Pepper's gravatar image

Well you need to restore. Back up to iCloud and restore in itunes. Since you are already jailbroken you need to kill it. Restore from the iCloud back up and wait for evasi0n

ps: always make backups. Theres always a chance something can go wrong and you lose it all.

It wouldn't be the first time I've restored... I never back up, since it takes too long and I have siblings.
